TV Killed The Faux-Hawk
Gone are the days of the messy faux-hawk. Retro clean cut is back.
The common thread among all these styles is clippercut sides. Harken the rebirth of the old school barber.
Only just a few years ago the stylist would work hard to create a lot of texture all around the head. Texture precipitated all the styles of the day: messy spikes, Pauly D look-a-likes, mohawks. Men have finally grown tired of that.
Usher in the influence of the TV show Madmen. 50's parts and blunt cuts, all the elements that take a full 180 degree turn from the disheveled looks of the single digit years.
A New Artistic Avenue
No more scissor over comb action. The fades required are way too close for scissors. The best thing about skin tight styles is the return of design. Carving and fading out art on a persons head is so much more interesting than styles of the previous decade. Done right, a style like this can turn more heads than a chiropractor.
Perfection Is Key
Points to be made with this type of cut are simple: Clean lines on the tapered perimeter and part. If it is a fade then a smooth and even transition of color to give the desired look. Shading zones should flow seamlessly and complement head shape and features of the head.
Still Holding On To The Past?
Great news! You still like something from a few years ago? It's really easy to incorporate a messy style on the top of the head. We are just looking to update it some... However you can let the new style flow with a pompadour or a perfectly sculpted slick back. When you are ready give me a call at the salon.
